7th Annual Kenny Gardner Memorial Golf Tournament Was a Huge Success!

The 7th Annual "It Was Fun" Kenny Gardner Memorial Golf Tournament had more entrants than ever before and a waiting list of teams that wanted to golf. More than 100 businesses and individuals donated to the cause, and more than $14,000 was raised for the Teen Program at the Willard Community Center.

"I heard so many comments that this is the most well-organized and fun tournament in the Lincoln area." said Janelle Soderling, director at Willard Community Center. "This is all thanks to the Gardner family and the dedicated golf committee. The Kenny Gardner family legacy of generosity. loyalty and concern for the youth in this community is alive and well."

How Tournament Proceeds Benefit "Kenny's Kids"

Willard Community Center hosts year-round programming for middle and high school youth. During the school year, Willard provides both Before and After-school activities and services for participants. Teens and their families receive many benefits through participation in the program. Students enjoy transportation to and from school each day, as well as a nutritious morning and afternoon snack and homework help. Summer activities provide kids with organized fun during those" forgotten months". Trained staff supervise and act as role models for youth in order to provide a safe environment for learning and peer interaction. "Teen Nights", which are hosted in the evenings, provide organized recreational, educational, and volunteer opportunities, including regular golf outings to Pioneer Golf Course to help kids with little experience with the game to learn and enjoy the sport Kenny loved.
Implementation of our programming is costly, and tournament proceeds are used to provide scholarships for low-income youth to be one of "Kenny's Kids."
